Amèlie Reimagined - An Ode to French Cinèma
Every fashion lover that respects themselves is by one way or another a Francophile. France is the fashion capital of the world that has produce the likes of Chanel, Dior, Gaultier, and Louboutin to name a few. With one of the most vibrant cultures of the 21st century, France manages to hold its ground in the movie industry as well. I am referring, of course, to the 2001 Oscar winning, French comedy Amèlie.
Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and starring Audrey Tautou (Coco before Chanel), Amèlie is a whimsical comedy about a young woman who takes it upon herself to change the lives of the people around her while facing her own loneliness. No good deed goes unpunished, and eventually Amèlie finds love! The 5 time Oscar nominated film made its American debut on the Los Angeles stage in 2016 starring Philippa Soo (Hamilton). I was super excited to hear that in April it will be making its Broadway premier as a musical, giving theatre audiences a taste of French, quirky, rom-com.
As an actress these are the roles I crave to play, so I had the fun of my life when I came across this super comfy Who What Wear jumpsuit that reminded me of Amèlie's favorite dress. I already owned a french beret because its my favorite hat, and the shoes are a must have for every theater actor. The green sweater is a signature of Amèlie as well, and the combo just took me right into the world of the movie. What can I say, I'm a dork!
Named after the iconic Audrey Heuburn, Audrey Tautou is one of my favorite actresses, not only because she performed in some of my favorite movies such as Amèlie and Coco Before Chanel, but also because she has successfully combined a career in the two things I love the most: Acting and Modeling!
P.S.: It has been a while since I spoke about movies and television, so I wanted to take the opportunity to share my new show addiction called "The Collection." This Amazon Original series is centered around a fashion house in Paris of 1945 and the lives of the two brothers behind the label. Gorgeous clothes, models, and a healthy dose of fashion in a real French couture atelier to glue any fashionista to her screen. You can binge the first season of this show with your Amazon Prime subscription, and if you don't have one here is a 30 day free trial! You are welcome! Enjoy!!
